We Are The New Guard

We belong to a semi secret society that protects the world from evils, that has grown in power over the years to a dangerous level. We are the apprentices, and the leaders are growing old. The leaders who decided what is helpful and what is evil for the better part of a generation. We think they got it wrong.

Problem is, now we can’t decide who of us is the best one to lead us into the future. It is clear that there is not long before the leaders will fall or step down, and we want to be ready, but we must first organise ourselves.

Looking into the secret libraries we discovered that this in not the first time this has happened. In fact, in the 1000+ years of the society’s operation, there has only been one generation that intermingled new with old, with every single other generation has ended with a messy power grab, either a misguided older generation holding on too long, or an overeager younger generation jumping in too early. As Mark Twain wrote, “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes”
